跳舞 major for students who entered Skidmore prior to Fall, 2018:

跳舞 Research Studies:

1. 18 credit hours of technique
   
2. 19 credit hours of theory to include DA 227, DA 228, DA 230, DA 276, DA 328, DA 335 和 DA 375.
   
3. DA 376 recommended (required for Honors). Does not count as theory credit toward the 跳舞 Research track.

Performance/Choreography:

1. 21 credit hours of technique 和/or Performance Workshop
   
2. 20 credit hours of theory to include DA 227, DA 228, DA 230, DA 276, DA 279, DA 328, DA 335 和 DA 375.
   
3. DA 376 recommended (required for Honors).

WRITING REQUIREMENT IN THE DANCE MAJOR:

In addition to their studio 和 performance studies, all dance majors must successfully complete courses that complement 和 enhance students' underst和ing of dance as a diverse 和 evolving art form. In these courses, students have the opportunity to practice the three styles of writing in dance that have been identified by the dance faculty as required for the dance major:

A. Description of observed dance

B. Expression of the creative experience of dance itself

C. Critical 和 analytical research

Students will satisfy the writing requirement in the dance major by successfully completing the following four courses:

Foundational Writing:

DA 227 - Improvisation I 和 DA 228 - Choreography I

Intermediate Writing:

DA 230 - 跳舞 和 Society I OR DA 335 - 跳舞 & 社会二世

Advanced Writing:

DA 375 - Senior Seminar OR DA 371 A-D - Independent Study
